Try practicing some of these common English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher job interview questions by Pritish Kumar Halder :

1.     What sets the ESL learning environment apart from a general education classroom?

How to answer: The interviewer likely wants to know how you will enhance your classroom to fully support your ESL students. Use examples of how you maintained an enriching learning environment in your past roles.

Answer:  “In my last classroom, I used visual cues with English and Spanish so that my native SSpanish-speakingstudents always had a way to recall vocabulary and language concepts. I also implemented daily language practice using a variety of online resources, including video sing-along to support each new language concept I introduced.”

2.     Do you feel that knowing different languages is a plus point in an individual’s life?

How to answer:   To answer this question, the first suggestion would be to keep a calm and composed mind as this question is fabricated to judge the candidate’s patience level.

Answer:  I do. It is a proven fact that the more languages an individual knows, the more developed their senses are. Additionally, knowing many languages eventually puts us in a position where we can make stable career and relocation decisions. One does not feel alienated when one is away from the home country. Also, knowing more than one language is a source of high confidence.”

3.     Are you technology proficient?

How to answer:   The interviewer must ask questions that deduce your expertise. Therefore, make sure that you handle this with the level of knowledge the second question needs.

Answer:   “Yes, I am well versed in utilizing and setting up various electronic Audiovisual aids in the classroom and also well-practiced in computing student results and gauging their progress electronically with the help of excel and other score integration software. I have also been using the ESL web Directory software and recommending it to my students for the past five years.”
