Try practicing some of these common Biological Technician job interview questions by Pritish Kumar Halder:

1.     Tell me about your ability to work under pressure?

How to answer:  Mention routine pressure you face, such as dealing with deadlines on a regular basis regularly. For example, working under pressure to meet a customer’s deadline could be a good example, but not if you had waited too long to start the project.

Answer: “Pressure is a catalyst to my work. When there is an imperative deadline, I refocus my energy on my work which in fact, has helped me to produce some of my best works. (Give examples) I guess you can say I thrive under pressure.”

2.     What field experience do you have for a Biological Sciences technician?

How to answer:   If you are being asked this question by your employer then you can explain your experience. Tell the employer what responsibilities you were performing during your job. You can tell what programs you developed and what modules you worked on. What were your achievements regarding different programs?

Answer:  I have been working with computers since 2001. I also have a degree in network support/computer repair. I have built my last 3 computers; have worked with Dell as an employee. So I have around 15 years experience working with computers.”

3.     Why are you interested in a career as a Biological Technician?

How to answer:  The interviewer wants you to explain what influenced you to pursue a career as a Biological Technician. Provide details about how and why you began working in the scientific field and why you ultimately decided on the path of a Biological Technician over other areas of science and provide details about why Chemistry is important to you. Be sure to show sincere excitement about your candidacy in your response to this question.

Answer:  “I have enjoyed Biology since I was in grade school. Science and healthcare have always intrigued me and Biology are the best of both worlds. I enjoy the study of life and working with living organisms. Without biology, we would not have much of the information that we do today regarding blood-borne pathogens or information on wildlife. Biology is a continuously changing field, and I greatly enjoy that aspect of working in a Biological laboratory.”

Not every question you will encounter when interviewing for a Biological Technician position will be related to a Medical and Health supportive job. But those are the common topics interviewer can ask for selecting a qualified candidate.
