Try practicing some of these common Molecular Biologists’ job interview questions Pritish Kumar Halder:

1.     How do you evaluate success as Molecular Biologist?

How to answer:  The interviewer uses this question to gauge whether you know the qualities you should have to be successful in your role as Molecular Biologist. In your response, highlight the qualities of a Molecular Biologist as you relate to the needs of the employer.

Answer:  “I evaluate success As Molecular Biologist in different ways. At work, it is meeting the goals set by my supervisors and my fellow workers. It is my understanding, from talking to other employees, that the Global Guideline company is recognized for not only rewarding success but giving employees’ opportunity to grow as well.”

1.     What is Frame Shift Mutation? Is this Mutation similar to single-nucleotide Polymorphism?

How to answer:   The response you give to this question determines how knowledgeable you are in this field. Be confident in your response and keep it brief.

Answer:  “This is the type of mutation in which DNA sequence is changed due to the addition and deletion of nucleotides. This mutation changes the code for amino acids. This is also called framing error or reading frameshift. This mutation will cause the reading of the codons after the mutation to code for different amino acids. No, this mutation is not similar to single-nucleotide polymorphism. In single-nucleotide polymorphism, a nucleotide is replaced, rather than inserted or deleted.”

2.     How can you determine if a molecular is Polar or non-Polar?

How to answer:  In biology, molecules are extremely small particles or substances and can refer to any particle in living tissue. In physics and chemistry, molecules are the smallest unit of a specific element or compound. Given their theoretical importance, a biology-related interview may contain questions about them.

Answer:   “Polar molecules have a net dipole moment because they have asymmetrical polar bonds. You need to determine two factors on your way to figuring out whether a molecule is polar or non-polar: the polarity of the individual bonds within the molecule and the molecule’s shape.

When examining the polarity between the two bonds, you can look at the periodic table for reference. If the electronegativity between the two atoms within the molecule is 0.3 or less, the bond is non-polar. If it’s greater than 0.3 and less than 1.7, it’s polar. You then need to analyze the shape, because two polar bonds of a certain shape can cancel each other out.”

Not every question you will encounter when interviewing for a Molecular biologist position will be related to cleaning up pollution from environment motive job. But those are the common topics interviewer can ask for selecting qualified candidate handshaking.
