How to answer: The response you give to this question determines how knowledgeable you are in this field. Be confident in your response and keep it brief is there a modern method to remove carbonate minerals from a soil sample to conduct an X-ray examination.
Answer: “The safe way to get rid of carbonates in the soil is using acidified sodium acetate with glacial acetic acid to have a pH (4.5-5), to preserve the clay particles from breaking down if hydrochloric acid is used for removal.”
