How to answer:   This question can also be an opportunity to exhibit your in-depth knowledge of the district and the challenges it encounters. You can use this answer to highlight your leadership approach. Some professionals may decide to prepare something like a presentation or printed plan. Although, your prospective employer is unlikely to require anything in addition to your verbal answer.

Answer:  “Considering the current circumstances, I plan to improve the school district by increasing the number of paraeducators. Teaching assistants available to teaching staff to provide them with additional support. Decreasing the number of students per instructor. I also hope to create an environment where all students, faculty, and administrators have equal opportunities and feel encouraged to reach their full potential.”


3.     How important is it for the superintendent to have a strong relationship with the school board’s leadership team?


How to answer:   A school board played a very important part in your role as a superintendent. Assure the interviewer that you are engaged and interested when it comes to getting to know your leadership and school board.

 Answer:  “To me, it is incredibly important that the school superintendent know everyone who plays a leadership role in the school. For that reason, I hold a semi-annual leadership event where everyone has a chance to network. I like to become involved with my leadership staff, and board, as much as possible.”
